Swimming It was a cold summer morning. It was also a holiday and i had the opportunity of doing whatever i wanted with my day. I decided to go for a swim. Swimming, you see, is a good exercise as well as a good form of cardio to burn fat. It is equivalently good for relieving your muscles and releasing all stress that you have built up, throughout the week. Lucky for me, the pool wasn’t overcrowded as it usually is during a holiday.

The cold water touching your skin, is bound to give you the chills, and the same happened to me. But nonetheless, I had ample space to swim my heart out. I was glad i decided to do this. But, you see, the monsoons are yet to end and due to this a lot people are falling sick. A public pool, is a place, where you can easily catch on the infection. So, i thought it would be better for me, to write on the safety measures to be taken prior to swimming especially during these times.

  • Carry your goggles, swimming cap, nose clip and ear plugs and make sure you use them while you swim.
  • Carry your swim suit and towel with you.
  • Use the swimming cap to ensure that the chlorine in the water does not damage or affect your hair.
  • Use the nose clips and ear plugs to ensure that water does not enter your body.
  • Make sure you have not eaten anything heavy an hour prior to your swimming.
  • Before you jump in the pool, make sure to shower. Wash each part of your body. This helps you to adapt to the coldness of the water and at the same time, helps avoid infections. When you enter a pool, you will bring all your germs along with you into the water. A shower beforehand will rinse all of those germs. If the pool is not heated, a shower may also help you get used to the water temperature faster.
  • Stretching prior to jumping in the pool, will help prepare the muscles for a sudden change in density and prevent cramps while swimming
  • Do not swallow the pool water, however if you have due to unavoidable circumstances, then make sure to drink a lot of water when you get back home, so all toxins get flushed out of your body.
  • Keep your belongings in a safe place.

When you get out of the pool, make sure you shower and wash dry yourself well. Go home, and take a proper soap shampoo shower.
